‘The Road to Shalom’
by Margaret Burnett MBE
'The Road to Shalom' recounts the moving and touching story of the people and events that have led to Shalom House becoming a reality. Read some quotes from our book below.
“… a shining example of an excellent and dedicated service that has been started and developed by a very determined group of people”
“This is how I met Elizabeth de Guise who left her home in St Davids in trust to be developed as a hospice / palliative care unit....We often had a cup of tea together during my visits. Elizabeth liked her Earl Grey and assured me that after time I would gain a taste for it”
“I have always wanted the very best for my patients and their relatives throughout my nursing career and long ago realised they needed that ‘something special’."

What you said about our wonderful book:
"Well done Margaret, it was a real priviledge to be asked to paint the front cover. I have known Margaret since 1993 when my husband died and she encouraged me to go the PCS.Since then we have kept in touch regularly, and im so pleased that she managed to write about the creation of 'Shalom' It shows what a special person she is and how determined she is to get things done against all the obstacles in her path she manages to just toss them aside and continue regardless, when most of us would have given up! I hope lots of you will buy this book, Margaret is truly inspirational."

“What a fantastic and touching story of positivity tinged with sadness at the loss of friends. I am humbled by the greatness of ordinary people who achieve the extraordinary”
